Ports of Arrival in Quebec Canada were Montreal & Quebec City. The Quarantine Station for shiops landing at Quebec City from 1815-1941 was Grosse-Ile. The port of Quebec was only open each year for approximately 24 weeks because the St. Lawrence River was closed to shipping during the winter months. During the winter months, many immigrants sailed to the ports of New York, New York, Boston, Massachusetts, Portland, ME and later to Halifax, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick. |
